It all started when...

I collaborated with the Atlanta, GA based community non-profit Music in the Park-ATL.  In 2015, they enabled me to explore the many roles there are to play in a music non-profit.  They helped me understand how to turn my plans into actions; how to stop trying and start doing.

During this time of great inspiration, I was still just beginning to decipher the mysteries of the guitar... How to make sense of the patterns, put them under my fingers.  Then, one day I sat down and made this first draft of the Color By Note sheet.

It would be another year before I began expanding the concept beyond the first coloring sheet.

In 2016, I was recruited to volunteer for Mighty Writers, a Philadelphia non-profit.  Although I had no experience teaching and no formal education in music, I was welcome to share what I had learned as a self-taught singer-songwriter.

I posted a request to borrow guitars on my social media channels and was overwhelmed by the generosity of my online community.  Using the Color By Note sheet, the children learned to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".

As I watched the children work with the materials, I learned what questions additional coloring pages needed to address.  Having learned how to transform my explanations into tangible, experiential materials as a speech therapist, I devoted years into devising Level Zero; The Music Theory Coloring Book for Anyone. What began as just one coloring page quickly became over 100 pages!

The coloring book is still just entering the publication process, but I am happy to share lessons with my patrons:
